Nina Koen, MSW, LCSW

Hi! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have approximately 15 years of experience in social work, providing counseling to adolescents and adults. My areas of practice are with clients struggling with trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, and depression. I opened this private practice because there is a need for more counseling providers to help those looking for new ways to cope. I am trained in EMDR techniques as well.

In August 2021, I started attending Barry University to obtain my doctorate in Social Work. This has been my long-term goal, and I will complete my doctorate in the summer of 2024. During my doctorate classes, I have learned so much about how the brain functions and the body responds to stress. My passion for social work increases when I help people during trying times in their lives.

Emily Iman, MSW, LSW

Hello, I am so happy you are here and have decided to seek counseling. I know personally and professionally how scary it can be to take that first step towards help. Helping others has always been a passion of mine, I strive to assist others in setting goals and gaining coping skills for themselves. I have experience working with mostly individuals and small groups. I have spent the last two years working in the school setting as a social worker. I helped  adolescents K-8  navigate life stressors such as: divorce, anxiety, depression, bullying, stress, grief, self-esteem, gender identity/confusion and more. Before I worked in a school district, I worked in the mental health field as a crisis clinician. Life can be very stressful at times and become overwhelming, I helped individuals who were experiencing suicidal or homicidal thoughts. I currently have my MSW and working towards my LCSW.

I believe in treating each person with compassion, and respect. I want every client to feel relaxed and that they are in a caring environment. Every persons journey in life  is unique to them and if  you find yourself needing some relief then I am here to help. I am here to tell you that you do not have to do it all on your own. Make the first step to making your mental health a priority.

Victoria Magruder, MSW

Hello! I’m thrilled you are looking for a counselor for yourself or a loved one. Counseling is a safe place to process difficult life transitions, improve coping skills for healthy self care, and be a non-judgemental space to unload those bottled up thoughts and feelings. I believe in the counseling process of advocating for my clients but also teaching my clients to become their own advocate. I enjoy incorporating manitulates, stories, and activities into my counseling sessions for children to express themselves and practice healthy coping skills. I find it most rewarding when a child can reflect on their social emotional progress and are proud of the skills they have gained.

I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois Champaign- Urbana in 2019 and am currently working towards my LCSW. Since 2018, I have been working in public schools with children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade with disabilities, anxiety, depression, poor social skills, self-esteem, and trauma. Currently, I prefer working with children and early adolescents for in person counseling.
