Hi! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have approximately 15 years of experience in social work, providing counseling to adolescents and adults. At the end of 2021, I decided to open my own private practice to help fill the need of long waitlists for counseling services and that was the beginning of Koen Counseling and Wellness Center.
My areas of practice are with clients struggling with trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, and depression. I opened this private practice because there is a need for more counseling providers to help those looking for new ways to cope. I am trained in EMDR techniques as well.
In August 2021, I started attending Barry University to obtain my doctorate in Social Work. This has been my long-term goal, and I will complete my doctorate in the summer of 2024. During my doctorate classes, I have learned so much about how the brain functions and the body responds to stress. My passion for social work increases when I help people during trying times in their lives.

Hello, I am so happy you are here and have decided to seek counseling. I know personally and professionally how scary it can be to take that first step towards help. Helping others has always been a passion of mine, I strive to assist others in setting goals and gaining coping skills for themselves. I have experience working with mostly individuals and small groups. I have spent the last two years working in the school setting as a social worker. I helped adolescents K-8 navigate life stressors such as: divorce, anxiety, depression, bullying, stress, grief, self-esteem, gender identity/confusion, and more. Before I worked in a school district, I worked in the mental health field as a crisis clinician. Life can be very stressful at times and become overwhelming, I helped individuals who were experiencing suicidal or homicidal thoughts. I currently have my MSW and working towards my LCSW.
I believe in treating each person with compassion, and respect. I want every client to feel relaxed and that they are in a caring environment. Every person's journey in life is unique to them, and if you find yourself needing some relief then I am here to help. I am here to tell you that you do not have to do it all on your own. Make the first step to making your mental health a priority. I can see you out of our Jerseyville location as well through telehealth.

Hello! I’m thrilled you are looking for a therapist for yourself or a loved one. Therapy is a safe place to process difficult life transitions, improve coping skills for healthy self care, and be a non-judgemental space to unload those bottled up thoughts and feelings. I believe in the therapeutic process of advocating for my clients but also teaching my clients to become their own advocate. I enjoy incorporating manipulatives, stories, and activities into my therapy sessions for children to express themselves and practice healthy coping skills. I find it most rewarding when a child can reflect on their social emotional progress and are proud of the skills they have gained.
I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois Champaign- Urbana in 2019 and achieved my LCSW in 2022. Since 2018, I have been working in public schools with children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade with disabilities, anxiety, depression, poor social skills, self-esteem, and trauma. Currently, I prefer working with children and adolescents in person at our Edwardsville office.

Title: Therapist

Hello, my name is Talitha (Tali) Fisher. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. I also specialize in LGBTQI-related concerns. I have experience in many platforms, including group homework, child custody concerns, LGBTQI, corrections, and community counseling. I hold a master’s degree and completed research at the School of Medicine while attending. I moved on to accept two fellowships where I was trained in research, teaching, and trauma. Currently, I hold a National Certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with my clinical license.
Twenty years ago, I was anxious and battled with anger, which I later realized was a symptom of depression. I realized that often, anger is fear’s bodyguard. I had experienced a devastating loss in my life and had no clue where to turn. I worked hard through my symptoms and made a simple promise that I would always help people. I believe everyone is entitled to live the best life they can, free from anxiety, worry, and depression. While this is a difficult task, the first step is reaching out when you know you need help managing difficult symptoms. My practice style is client-centered and goal-oriented. I want my clients to feel heard and understood, but also not lose sight of the goals that they have set for themselves. I like to utilize motivational interviewing with self-reflective practice to challenge negative thinking patterns and inappropriate boundaries. I offer evening hours to accommodate work schedules that may have been a barrier to participating in therapy. I look forward to assisting you on your healing journey!

Hello! My name is Brooke Frank. I am currently in the process of obtaining my Master of Social Work at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. During this time, I assisted recently released individuals with acquiring basic needs such as shelter, transportation, food, and clothing. My supervisor and I were also allowed to go into Marion Penitentiary where we taught Cognitive Behavior Skills to the inmates. It was during this time that my passion for counseling and therapy emerged. After Undergrad, I worked as a Career Specialist at the Madison County Employment and Training Department. I also worked with adolescents to receive their Diplomas or GEDs. I am super excited to begin my practicum hours and learn from the amazing team at Koen Counseling and Wellness Center! I look forward to becoming a greater asset here as well as in the social work field.
